Pizza Hut Australia has incurred a $2.5 million fine for violating spam regulations, according to an investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). The probe uncovered that the fast-food chain had sent a total of 5,941,109 text messages and emails to customers who either did not give consent or had explicitly withdrawn their consent to receive marketing communications.
In addition, Pizza Hut was found to have delivered 4,364,971 marketing messages that lacked an unsubscribe option, further infringing the spam laws. This action against Pizza Hut underscores the importance of adhering to digital communication guidelines to protect consumer rights.
