SkyCity Appeals Tax Decision on Loyalty Points

SkyCity Entertainment Group is appealing a tax decision that could potentially cost it NZ$33 million regarding the treatment of its loyalty points. The company believes that reward points should not be included as revenue for tax purposes. However, the state government has expressed a contradictory view, stating that since reward points can be utilized for gambling, they should be counted as taxable revenue. The High Court has granted SkyCity special permission to appeal this decision.
